Education and protection against child labour

Topic 1:

 1. The Convention on the Rights of the Child education and work are the following:

The child has the right to receive an education that will enable development discriminatory conditions, skills and personality.

The child has the right to be protected against exploitation and can not be constrained in a job that involves a potential risk or is likely to compromise his education, or to harm her health or physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social development.

The child has the right to protection from all forms of exploitation;

2. No. In our country many children work hard and they help their families as they are poor and so  many of them do not attend  schools. In our town there are some children who do not afford to attend  highschools.  For example in our school there are several situations like these; even in our classroom one of our colleagues gave up this year as he couldn’t pay his means of transport.

 3.  We believe that it is very important for us to study and to educate by means of schools as we develop ourselves, we learn many new things, we meet colleagues and exchange ideas, we make friendships and most of all teachers help us realize what we want to do with our future, they help us to choose the right career in life. Unfortunately those who cannot go on studying after the secondary school have only a few chances to involve in better  paid  jobs which will give them  the  appropriate fulfillment and satisfaction.

 4.  We consider that even if we have the right to education, the right to go to school there will always be those rich who will always get the chance to use the highest technology during the classes (for example tablets or at least more computers and computerized systems to be used) and on the other side we shouldn’t forget those who can hardly afford to make use of them.

Topic2:

 We are generally well informed about every product we usually buy as we can read who made them as companies but it’s not that easy to find out if there are any children to work for those companies. In our town there are no companies to make use of child labour as in fact there are hardly jobs for those who are between 18 to 60 years old.

In our area there are situations when children aged between 14 to 17 usually willingly go to different places to work as part-time jobs. These jobs are not very hard and they only work for pleasure, to get extra-pocket money or  to  get experience for their future careers.

Another category refers to those poor families as we’ve already mentioned in which children aged from 10 to 15

have to go to work hard in the neighbourhood in order to get money for the whole family to survive.

Dear participant,
Thank you for the challenge 2 postings. Are there any organizations in Romania which follow up with fulfilling cjildren right on education? Can you provide more statistics and steps of officials about involving children in schools?
